Nearly a month to go

Actually, I am just killing some time before a directed study. I just checked the weather in Puerto Vallarta and it seems ideal, mid-80s, a few clouds, and a lot of sun. I must confess that my mind keeps wandering in that direction as we quickly approach the end of the semester. I seem to be caring less and less. It feels similar to the time I was getting ready for sabbatical. I always say that even when people take a semester sabbatical, they really are focused in that direction for the whole year.

I must say that I have enjoyed just teaching and not doing all the other "stuff." No meetings, no committees, no fielding complaints about plays, just working with some very good students. I is amazing how the quality of the students have changed at the University over the 17 years. That is hard to believe: 17 years! I talked to a student today who was born just two years before I arrived here. In another couple of years they will be younger than my time here. That is scary!

Well, this blog is about what passes through my head leading up to leaving. Then it will be about the adventure. How does one adjust to doing nothing after being so busy for so many years? Stay tuned.
