Progress, at Last

Dear friends and family,

I have been wanting to provide an update on the progress of Polley wth regard to breaking her hip on 14 April. Alas, for the last month there has simply been little to report. Signs of healing are, apparently, slow to reveal themselves. It has been frustrating, but ittle could be done but wait.

This morning, after a month of waiting, we had another follow-up appointment. I am pleased to report that progress has been made. In looking at an x-ray taken at 8:30 this morning, the pins have settled in and there is clear indication that the bone is fusing where the break occurred. While notnecessarily out of the woods yet, it is a sign that all is on track for a complete recovery. Polley starts physical therapy tomorrow and will, hopefully, begin to move from the walker to a cane and, eventually, to full, unrestricted mobiity. It will be a slow process, as we are not expected to return to the doctor for another 6 weeks, but it seems very positive at this stage.

Many thanks for your kind thoughts, positive vibrations and encouraging visits. I will try to update you as we move through the stages of recovery and into the sunshine of total reuperation.
