Acquiring Friends, Four Footed and Two

One and all,

In some ways it has been a pretty quiet, routine couple of days in Mexico. On Sunday, the gray skies continued althugh I don't believed it rained. We checked in at home with our good friend, Rae, and discovered, weather-wise, we were missing very little. There is a tiny drop of smugness that rises to the surface when you find out things are better where you are.

Because of the phone call, we just slid down our hill and fell into La Fuente del Puente for our daily margarita. Because the weather was less than ideal, and Fuente offer some cover, the place was quite crowded. When the sun shines, everyone heads for the beach, when the clouds come in people tend to move inland and shop. It was a shopping day. We got in our siesta and some good reading time and then decided to eat out. We visited a place called Fajita Republic, a very popular spot on Basilio Badilla in the heart of Old Town, the tourist mecca of PV. We normally avoid such spots, but they have an excellent "Crunchy Salad" that we had not enjoyed for a couple of years. So, we braved the crowds and shared a salad and a couple of glasses of wine. From the smell of the order by the lady sitting next to us, we plan to return for the Shrimp Fajitas on our next visit.

Monday, the sun was back and it is remarkable how that seems to change the rhythm of the day. I was up and out for a good walk and a bit of grocery shopping. The tequila had gotten dangerously low! When I came back up the hill and sorted out the purchases, I relaxed with my Kindle and while reading managed to capture a photo of a feral can that has been a frequent visitor.

He is feral, but seems to by dying the be domesticated. Each day he gets a bit more daring and I have no doubts that Polley will lure him to us before we leave.

Another little feline came into our lives as well. One of the other renters acquired this little guy

He is a cutie and tears around the place, up as high as he can get, into corners and closets and generally terrifies the other cats who just can't quite figure out what to make of him.

While I my walk yesterday, I met our friends, Rae and Mary Ann, people we have referred to before as the "Dancing Couple" because of their skill as a pair on the dance floor. We had not heard from them and thought, perhaps, they had passed on PV this year. But there they were. We decided to meet at Coco Tropicale for their Happy Hour and catch up. So that was Monday evening.

Mary Ann is the lady in the sunglasses, the second over to the righ from Polley, the other lady in sunglasses. Rae is not in the photo as he is no doubt telling another corny joke to an unsuspecting partier. It was good to see them and we will cross paths with they in a more intimate setting than the madness of Coco Tropicale Happy Hour.

Our friends, Neal and Judy Higgins, were also at Coco. We followed up the 2 x 1 wine fest with a visit to their 7th story apartment that overlooks the bay.

Not quite our neighborhood, but it is fun to visit once in a while

So, the days go by. We continue to reconnect and acquire new friends, albeit, they have been mostly of the four-legged variety. But, as we caught a cab home last night, we decided that while we enjoy the social flurry on occasion, that the quiet days and quiet nights are treasured as well. More to come soon as our Portland friends, Beth and Alice, arrive in PV on Wednesday from Sayulita. Should be a good time.
