Mexican Welcome

Beth and Alice,

I wanted to give you some information for your trip, but had some internet and text issues. So I am not sure what you received and what you didn't get. So I am using the blog app to send some details. I hope I am not too late.

When you arrive in PV you will go through Passport Control. You will hand them the immigration form. It has two halves. They will take the top half and give you back the bottom half. You MUST keep that as they collect it when you leave to go home.

From there you collect your luggage and go through customs. They have a sort of "Mexican Roulette" system here. You will push a button and if it is green, you will sail on through. If it is red, they go through everything. Good luck.

When you come out of customs, you will talk through a gauntlet of people trying to book you into hotels and cabs, etc. Keep walking! You might ask, but I believe that when you come out of the terminal, you will turn left and walk to a pedestrian overpass that will take you across the highway to catch the bus north for Sayulita. Should be about 30 - 35 pesos each and will take about an hour to an hour and fifteen.

Polley and I went to Sayulita on Thursday. We followed your landlord's instructions and they are quite good. You will leave what they call the "bus staton," and walk up the street to the bridge and as she tells you, cross the bridge and then go the right at the "Y." That will take you to the town square.

Go to the end of the square on the righthand side and you will see the Taxi Stand she speaks of. Across from that is the El Espresso Cafe that she references.

Walk up the right side of that building and carry on up the hill. You will pass the Bungalows Jaqualine that she again mentions

Continue up the hill

You will pass the big boulder on the right. Carry on for about 3 small cross streets and then look to the left as she describes. You will see your place.

At the end of that street are some steps. However, they do not appear to be tri-colored anymore, but are just plain concrete

Go up those steps and you will find Casa Jaqui

After that you are on your own. Looks to be great fun. I don't think Polley and I will come to Sayulita. It is a long bus ride and we were just there. However, we hope that you will find you way to PV for a day, perhaps next Wednesday or Thursday, according to your schedule, which you don't want to be too hectic.

Have a great time and let us know if we can answer any other questions. Looking forward to sharing PV with you next week. Welcome to sunshine!

Ed and Polley
