Picture Perfect Day

Dear Friends and Family,

The brochure photo weather has returned to PV. After about a week of clouds, we got that deep blue sky yesterday and almost perfect seas. It was wonderful and quite hot. Even one of the vendors, our new friend, Alfredo, commented on "mucho sol y mucho calor."

We did make it to the beach and got our hour of sun. My cold is beginning to move on to wherever it is old colds go, but we didn't do a lot. Same afternoon routine.

I wanted to feature a few more of the entrepreneurs on this blog. While at Langosta's, we caught this musical duo.

The fellow plays the guitar and a South American-styled flute, at the same time, while his partner provides the percussion. They did a very nice rendition of "Imagine," and "The Sound of Silence."

As it was Sunday, we got down to the Malécon for sunset, arriving about 6:30. The place was bustling. AS we have moved into March, the gringo population continues to diminish, so the activity was mainly provided by Mexican families. As Polley said, yesterday coming back from the beach, the Mexican kids are so cute it should be against the law!

There were a couple of new living statues on the Malécon last night. Some of their come-ons are truly inspired, as with this fellow's engineering feat.

I'm still not sure who he is supposed to be: Michael Jackson(?); Johnny Depp(?). As we watched him, it was clear that this pose put a certain strain on him, as he kept have to stand every few minutes, and, with that, the magic was lost.

Another very popular figure was this strange, but very sparkley masked figure.

When you made a donation, the spirit would shake the box in his hands and remove the lid, inviting you to take a small slip of paper, giving you some words of wisdom. Mine said, "Todas las mañanas dios nos meustra su sonrisa." "Every morning God shows us his smile." As I said, this fellow was very popular with the children. I think it was the outfit, not the advice.

After a brilliant, but not particularly dramatic sunset, we went on for our regular Sunday night dinner at Vitea. It just a couple salads and some wine, but it was very nice to just sit and watch the activity on a nearly perfect Sunday evening.

People often ask, "What do you down there?" Puerto Vallarta makes very little demand on you. You lose all need to "do"!
