A Seemingly Never Ending Day

Dear One and All,

While you can nearly count on the sun shining everyday and the PV sky shining blue,

and the Mexican world filled with color

and the sun coming up and, of course, going down,

and down,

and even lingering beyond

the truly eternal event, occurring each year on the Day of St. Valentine, is Polley's Birthday! It seemingly has more events to it than the Winter Olympics and last nearly as long as a Russian novel. So, yesterday was number 77! It was a particularly special one, as it also marked the 40th year or our relationship. Admittedly, it began with just one kiss, but while other marked it as just a "passing fancy," we proudly boasted of 40 years!

It began quite simply with a "Loving Cup," in the likes of a Valetine's Coffee Mug

We added to that a delicious Elcair de Cafe, which a Parisian baker informed me is the test of any pastry chef. If the Eclair de Café is good, you can bet the rest will be as well. Then it was off to the beach for some sun and on to La Fuente del Puente for the main celebration. José brought out the requisite margaritas

Aurora presented Polley with a scrumptious Torta de Chocolate to the lovely "Polita"

and there was music, nearly non-stop

Actually, in terms of the pesos I handed out, it may have been as much of a celebration for the musicians as it was for Polley. Anyway, it was a lovely afternoon lunch and the people at La Fuente always go out of their way to make the day special.

We had a very nice dinner out at a place called the Café Naranjo. It is a very nice, family-run place with Mon and Dad in the kitchen and the Son handling the front of house. Just a simple dinner of a delicious crab bisque and a cream of mushroom soups and some wine, but, as the celebration always does, it continued as they brought us a lovely dessert, on the house.

We caught a cab back towards home, stopping at El Patio for a bit more wine -- and, of course, another free dessert! El Patio was packed, but we did manage to squeeze in

Just barely. Then it was home, a little tipsy and very tired. It seems every year the 14th of February gets longer and we, being another year older, struggle to keep up the pace. However, you must admit that Polley is looking pretty damn good

How lucky we are!
