Leisurely Looks Around PV

One and all,

Nothing particularly out of the ordinary in the last two days. The weather has been ideal and one can see why February seems to be the most popular month. Temperatures are in the mid-80s, there is almost always a light breeze and the evenings cool off just enough to make it plesant for wandering about and for sleeping. As I have said before, our place is open to the elements, so those low 60s in the morning are just cool enough for a light shirt, but never anything heavier.

With the days so nice, we have taken our time wandering down to the beach and the beer. As we cut through the park, we found this fellow taking a snooze at the feed of John Huston

He was totally out and never moved during the photo session. We caught a second one peeking out from under a bench in the park

There must be more than 100 cats in this park below us. They have even taken over a defunct restaurant that sits in the park. Our own cats, meanwhile, have been getting a cat-nap or two

That is the little "shit" (we call her that because 1) she is and 2) we actually don't know her name) that "supposedly" lives up stairs. We are not sure when that it as he seems to be at our place full time! In our rambling around the town we passed a shop that has three of these little fellows, all appropriately (or would that be "inappropriately" ) decked out.

I tried to catch all three together, but some other people were busy cuddling them in their arms. On a more serious note, as we strolled about, on a couple of streets we don't usually frequent, I was struck by how many empty storefronts there are in town. Once you get back from the glamour and bustle of the fiesta environment of the Malécon, there are a lot of empty spaces. The tourist dollars don't seem to drift far afield and, certainly the Mexican population does not have the extra pesos to support many of the businesses. Times are still tough here in terms of the econcomy.

However, meanwhile, back on the Malécon, we did witness a couple of evenings of spectacular sunsets. Two nights ago, it was an absoutely clear sky

and then a few clouds gathered at the horizon. But I did manage to capture this sail boat as it positioned itself perfectly for my camera

Also, as I was down by the wall, I found this kind of charred piece of wood that made for a fascinating abstract

Strange, but rather dramatic. Last night, again down to Roberto's for some wine and sun. The sky was amazing with it swirling patterned clouds

As the sunset, the depth of color got even more intense

Again, I did not Photoshop these. This is what the camera saw

I know they talk about the Northern Lights, and I will admit to never having witnessed them. But this Southern Show was really something last night

I continually took a shot, walked back to our table and then had to get up again, as the show seem to add a encore with every passing minute

It was quite a night for the sky. I am pleased to be able to share. More soon
