A Surprise Reunion

One and all,

Little has changed in our lives in the last couple of days as we tried to recover from Polley's birthday celebration. Our thanks to all of you who sent her birthday wishes. I am sure you will be hearing from her in the near future.

Saturday was a lovely day. We wandered down to the Saturday Farmer's and Crafts market on the square. On my morning walk, as they were setting up, I had seen some very good looking fennel, so we returned to acquire some for our dinner. We also discovered some homemade Chimichurri, an Argentinean sauce that they we had enjoyed recently at a local restaurant. It is a mixture of Italian parley, oregano, olive oil and a few other ingredients. Very tasty. The local guy was mixing it with avacado. It was delicious. We also enjoyed a sampling of cilantro and coconut mixed together. We got some coconut from our little "Fruit Man," yesterday on the beach and will be trying that soon. Anyway, it was an easy day. That evening, we returned to the beach and Langosta Loca for some drinks and a sunset.

As you can see, it was a very clear evening, and I loved capturing the silhouettes of those along the beach

I thought these two little girls were especially enchanting

Once the sun went down, there were only a few clouds just down the beach off which to bounce the light

As the sun faded, both Polley and I realized that lunch had been quite filling, so we ordered some guacamole to take home, partially so we could try the chimichurri mixed in. It was terrific.

Sunday, with plans to make a vegetable stir-fry with our fennel, I headed to the store of the rest of the ingredients and got a most wonderful surprise. Last fall we had become good friends with a waiter at Roberto's. His name was Bruno. When we returned in January, Bruno has been let go and no one would tell us where he had gone. He just disappeared. We were really sorry to lose the contact, but there was little we could do other than keep an eye out. PV is really a small town and we hoped our paths would cross. Yesterday, just north of the cheese and a tad west of the churizo, I heard my Spanish nick name, "Lalo," called out. It was Bruno. He seemed thrilled to see me and I was equally glad to have made the connection. It turned out that to his surprise and apparently on the owner's whim for a change, he had been let go. However, he had a new job and was thrilled. He was now working at a more upscale place called the Blue Shrimp. He gave thanks to God for his good fortune. So last night, Polley and I went to see Bruno in action. And he seems to be thriving. Unfortunately, the Blue Shrimp is a pretty pricey place, so if will likely be a drink of two by which we make contact with Bruno. But someone who was just yanked from our life seems to be doing well and seems very much pleased with his new surroundings. If only I had been bright enough to take a photo of him, this story might have stronger visual reinforcement. Next time.

We did, however, manage to capture the sun just as it was disappearing

And with the sun, we too faded away from Bruno and the Blue Shrimp and enjoyed our fennel, etc in the quiet and comfort (at times debateable) of our little bungalow. More soon.
